Can I backup my site with a plugin or service?

Knowing how to back up your site yourself (for free!) is a very valuable skill to have. And choosing a managed WordPress host that includes daily backups as part of their hosting package will give you a lot of peace of mind.

But what if you don't have access to your client's phpMyAdmin or site backups? What if you only have access to their WordPress admin? You can use a plugin! Here are a few suggestions:

• Updraft Plus is excellent, and you can choose to have it only backup your database, or both your database and your files.
• WP Migrate DB can be used to backup your database. Once installed and activated, go to Tools -> Migrate DB in the admin and remove the "Replace" fields, then export the database. This is a very reliable plugin used by thousands of developers.

You could also go with a service like ManageWP, which will allow you to make updates on multiple sites from your ManageWP dashboard as well as offering free or paid upgrades per site to backup the files and database.
