What do I need to know to be a junior developer?
Different companies will expect different things from junior developers, and it’s important to keep that in mind. However, there are a few key things that you can expect to get asked about, including:
- Problem-solving skills (knowing where to look for answers, and attempting to solve your own problems)
- An understanding of databases and database normalization
- Version control systems like using Git and GitHub
- The web development stack
You should also have a willingness to continuously learn new things. Junior Developer positions will usually require some demonstration of coding experience in the desired language, and often a coding exercise.
